DI-ELECTRIC  MEASUREMENTS- Method of  Testing

The insulated sheet checked for Di-electric strength which is as follows:
  • 30 KV for 2 MM thickness
  • 45 KV for 2.5 MM thickness
  • 65 KV for 3.0 MM thickness

The proof voltage checked for different sizes of the mats is as follows:
  • 10 KV for 2 MM thickness
  • 20 KV for 2.5 MM thickness
  • 36 KV for 3 MM thickness

The mat is checked with the above said voltage with direct contact with water.  This thus proves to be how safety this mat is even in faults of any type occurring in the operation and handling of the switchgear and other allied equipment.

In case of any type of fault the current in arc does not flow through the mat but takes the path outside the mat.

All the above relevant tests got conducted through Central Power Research Institute, Government of India, premier testing Lab for testing of electrical equipment.

Also, the said insulated mats have been specified in C.P.W.D. specifications Part IV in sub-stations which is mandatory for the protection/safety of the workers.
